Surfing in Playa Negra:

Though Playa Negra is a great surfing spot for all levels of surfers and especially for the advanced level surfers though new surfers can also find a perfect break and try their skills on a smaller day. During high-tide is the best time to play with the waves. Throughout the year, many surfers love to visit this place due to its consistent waves but it is recommended to avoid this place at the time of low tide. Many surfers get this beach as one of the top surfing spots in Costa Rica.

Within five minutes drive destination you will find Playa Avellans which caters to many surfing abilities. Beginners and a bit advanced surfers can enjoy surfing the right and lefts near the shore with a long board. More advanced surfers can go to the Avellanas Rivermouth to surf and A-frame break with long barrels on both sides. Playa Negra is also close enough to Tamarindo to hit all of the famous spots including Witches Rock, with long lefts and rights that are easy to surf.

Marino Las Baulas National Park:

With its 445 hectares area, this park is set just 24 km from the Playa Negra beach town. In May 1990, this park has takes as a part of Costa Rica’s national park system. It has 22,000 hectares area of open water. Play Langosta, Playa Ventasas, Playa Grande and Carbon is also included in this park. At the mouth of the San Francisco river estuary and Matapalo river, there are mangroves which are also consisted by this park area. Main attraction of this park is the shoreline where the leatherback turtles come for their nesting and in the planet, it is also one of the last remaining sites. Though it is a restricted area, during the time between November and February, you can travel along the shores with the help of a guide.
