Guanacaste province is the most popular place for tourists to go in Costa Rica, mainly because it has the driest weather, and so it attracts surfers and beach lovers from all over. For the average tourist to Costa Rica, it’s appealing as well because of the multitude of great surf spots, zillions of hotels and restaurants, and it’s the only region outside of the capital city of San Jose that has an international airport (Liberia).
