Potrero Beach is a gorgeous and wonderfully tranquil place. It is located on the northwest Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the province of Guanacaste. It is a perfect place for enjoying some fun times with family and friends. People who love to watch the exotic plant and explore beautiful wildlife, this is a perfect place for them. To the east there is a string of volcanic mountain ranges border the Province.
Way to Playa Potrero:
If you want to go from San Jose then it will take a four and a half hour to reach the small paradise of Playa Potrero and if you drive from Liberia’s International Airport it will take only 45 minutes.
Activities:
Playa Potrero is the place for enjoying vacation with many types of activities like horseback riding, sport fishing, scuba diving, world class golfing, sunset sailing cruises, kayaking, canopy tours, kayaking etc. If you walk on the 2.5km beach you will be able to enjoy the sunsets view. You can go for exploring the surrounding rainforest by visiting the nearby Palo Verde Natural Reserve and Santa Rosa National Park. You can also go to the native villages and meet the locals. You can also go for exploring the caves, hot springs and beaches where you can enjoy deep sea fishing.
Accommodations:
There are many types of accommodations in and around the Playa Potrero including luxurious international hotels and private beachfront condos to local bed & breakfasts and beachfront camping. Hotel Sugar Beach, Bahia del Sol Beach Front Hotel & Suites and Villaggio Flor de Pacifico are some of the best hotels near Playa Potrero. You will find the best of all its just 45-60 minutes drive from the International airport outside of Liberia. If you are going to stay for a week it will be better to rent a condo. High season for visiting the place is December to April and in this season you will have to pay a 25-40% premium over the low season rates. And if you stay during the Christmas or New Year and Easter, you will have to pay a double for the week. And another important thing is that if you are going to visit the place in High season then you should book your accommodations in advance and reconfirm them a couple weeks prior to your trip.
Bar and Restaurants:
Earlier Playa Potrero was only a little village but now it is more than that. Now you will find plenty of choices for food and entertainment. Most of the bars and restaurants offers a happy hour or feature entertainment weekly and you do not need to reserve earlier but if you go with a large group or in the high season then you reservations recommended.
