How to get there?

By Air: Two airstrips within a short drive from Hacienda Barú is the first way. The Quepos airstrip is the second way which is only 30 minutes away the third being the Palmar Sur airstrip which  is about 90 minutes from Hacienda Barú.

Domestic Airlines: You can book your ticket to either of these small airports with one of the two local Costa Rican airlines: SANSA and Nature Air.

By Car:  From San Jose via Cerro de la Muerte: For the mountain route take the Inter-American Highway #2 south to San Isidro del General. You will leave San Jose heading east to Cartago, follow the signs to San Isidro del General or Panama. This will take you over the Cerro de la Muerte, This road can be very rainy and foggy. Carry along a jacket; it gets a bit chilly out there. It will take you approximately 3 hours to get to San Isidro. Once here watch for a McDonald’s on the right, turn right at that corner drive through town to the right and continue 37 kilometers on a winding, mountainous road to an intersection where you meet the coastal highway. Left is the bridge over the Baru River. Turn right from this junction onto the coastal highway heading towards Quepos. Hacienda Barú is 2.5 Km up this road. Our entrance is immediately after the Gas Station on the left. The whole journey takes between 4 and 5 hours.
