Poas Volcano Lodge is an amazing and unique mountain lodge. It is situated on a farm, on the edge of a protected cloud forest of Poas Volcano National Park. Nestled into rolling pasture lands that lay beneath the Poas Volcano, this lodge overlooks breathtaking views of Poas Volcano and the northern Caribbean Plains. This lodge is situated outside of the capital city San Jose, in the central Valley. This lodge is only 45 minutes away from San José (Juan Santamaria) Airport. While staying at this lodge you will get the experience of a mountain Lodge in the country cloud forest as well as enjoy a homely like feeling.
Rooms:
Poas Volcano Lodge offers eleven rooms which are elegantly designed and include everything to ensure the guests comfort. There are six spacious, luxurious bedrooms including Queen or King size beds and also features an elegant en suite bathroom. Three of those six rooms overlooks amazing Poas Volcano view and three other offers stunning garden view. In the outside of the Garden rooms, within few step destination there are five other bedrooms.
Lodge Rooms with Garden View:
Quetzal:
This the largest bedroom in the Lodge and featured with two comfortable queen size beds and cozy sofas. There is a bathroom overlooking an amazing garden view and including a separate WC, a shower and double basins. This rooms has direct access to the garden and its own, quiet, outdoor seating area.
Jacamar:
This spacious room is set close to the main Lodge building. This rooms is featured with a king sized bed, own armchairs and fireplace, bathroom with garden view and also has a WC, double basins and shower. This rooms also has outdoor seating terrace and its private garden which offers amazing cloud forest view.
Toucanet:
This room is set in the main Lodge and include bathroom featuring double basin, a separate WC and a shower overlooking a garden view. Feature with a king sized bed this room has access to the garden and to its private outdoor seating area.
Lodge Rooms with Volcano View:
Tanager:
This room is nestled in the heart of the Lodge and this spacious room is featured with a comfortable king size bed, bathroom with WC, double basins and a dressing room. This room also has a balcony that overlooks breathtaking views of Volcano and the National Park.
Hummingbird:
Featured with a queen sized bed, bathroom with one basin, WC, shower and dressing room, Hummingbird is the cosiest of the three Volcano view rooms.
Oriole:
It is the last of the three volcano rooms set at the end of the corridor. This rooms offers king sized bed, ensuite bathroom including double basin, WC, shower and dressing room.
Garden Rooms:
Pssiflora:
Earlier this room was a family home and Passiflora was used as a guest room. This is lovey room featured with a queen size bed, ensuite bathroom with WC, one basin, shower and a bath and it is set next to Jacamar.
Orchid:
While staying at this cosy room you will experience a unique mountain lodge feel. This room is also featured with all the necessary amenities.
Amaryllis:
This room is perfect for a family of three or four. This is a wooden panelled bedroom featured with a queen size bed and a single bed, a pull out truckle bed and an ensuite bathroom that includes a basin, WC, and shower.
Heliconia:
This is another cosy large room with the same amenities that other garden rooms offer.
Ginger:
This offers interconnecting bedrooms that is ideal for a family and there is also a bedroom adjoining sitting room.
The Bromelia Restaurant and Bar:
In this restaurant you will enjoy a mixture of European and traditional Costa Rican dishes that are prepared with the products collected from local source. In breakfast this restaurant serves its own baked bread and own granola that is a Cannon family recipe. This restaurant also make its own jam with the locally grown strawberries. It collects milk every morning from the Lodge’s dairy. In Lunch it serves light dishes or can pack for you. In evening you will enjoy à la carte dinner, which always has a vegetarian option and also serve variety of dishes for the kids.
Games Room:
Poas Volcano Lodge has a games room that include a full sized American pool table, chess sets and various other board games.
Library:
There is a library with a selection of books based on local history, geography, flora and fauna and there are also some novels. This library is furnished with comfortable sofas surrounding a log burner and far reaching views.

People who are looking for a wide variety of activities, the surrounding area of the hotel offers an abundance of opportunities to enjoy. You can visit Trimbini Tropical Forest and enjoy exploring the natural beauty, go for rafting on the Sarapiqui River, horseback riding, trout fishing, hule crater lake, bird watching, visit strawberry farm and many more.
