Samara is a small sunny beach town with pristine beaches and amazing natural beauty. It is set in Guanacaste province, along the southern Pacific coast of the Nicoya Peninsula. Samara beach town is also well known community as a major part of the Costa Rica’s fishing and cattle industry. Set at the foot of a steep hill, this quaint little town has its amenities, but almost everything is clustered onto one tiny street leading to the ocean. These main road leads straight into town and ends at the stunning Playa Samara or Samara Beach. With several places along the beach, this place is a great getaway for the people who want to spend a tranquil holiday or fun family vacation. This beach town offers a number of services: stores, restaurants, hotels, and a small selection of bars.

Getting to the Samara Beach Town:

From San Jose, Samara beach town can be reached by 4 hour driving. If you want to reach the town fast, you can chose air travel and board on a plane from the Liberia International Airport. From the airport you will have to drive via Nicoya town for 2 hours south-west to Samara. Though Samara is a tiny town, 20 minutes north of this area, it has its own airstrip in the closest domestic airport in Nosara where you can land by small planes.

Samara beach town offers plenty of accommodations to choose from. There are luxury hotel on a hilltop or beachfront and there are also bed and breakfast, rustic cabinas and villas. Climate:

As the beaches of Guanacaste are located close to the equator, Samara is also have the same climate like other beaches of this province. In Samara beach town, the coolest months are from November to January and synchronizes with the dry season which extends through April. From March to May you will experience hottest atmosphere and the rainy season kicks and lasts through October. As the October is the month when so much rain falls, many of the businesses close for the month. At the beaches the temperature average 83 degrees and can be 10 degrees cooler at the higher elevations.

Nicoya:

The city of Nicoya is centrally located on the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste province. This town is the first Spanish colonial city in Costa Rica and often reffered to as the political and cultural capital of the Peninsula. This town is not well known as a tourist destination itself and often used as a stopover town. Main attraction of this town is its 500 year old church Iglesia de San Blas that is nestled in the center of the town.

Playa Carrillo Town:

The town of Carrillo is situated three kilometers south of Samara beach. This town boasts an enjoyably laid-back atmosphere on a small, comfortable scale. This town doesn’t have much crowd that makes it a perfect location to wind down from other exhilarating days spent throughout the country.

Playa Nosara Town:

Nosara is one of the coastal towns that lacks nearly any development on the beach. Its official town center is set about five miles inland from the beach and is where most of the local, Tico population resides.

Ostional National Wildlife Refuge:

Situated in the counties of Santa Cruz and Nicoya in the province of Guanacaste, the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge was created in 1984 to protect one of the world’s most important nesting sites of the olive ridley sea turtle. At playa Ostional, the ranger station is open from 8 am to 4 pm and tours are available with bi-lingual park employees.

Barra Honda National Park:

Barra-Honda-Caves This national park is located in the western part of the country. The Barra Honda National Park ranger station is open for visitor attention from 8am to dusk, and has potable water and restrooms. Main visitor attraction of the park is the calcareous formations of the limestone caverns.

Palo Verde National Park:

This park is a diverse patchwork of habitats. It is located in the heart of the Tempisque basin near the mouth of the Rio Tempisque River. The Palo Verde Ranger Station is open for visitor attention from 8am to dusk, and has potable water and restrooms.
