Located at an altitude of 700 feet, the Trogon Lodge is a 105 acre farm. Surrounded by misty beautiful nature this lodge offers amazing forest views as well as many different activities. It takes a short two hour drive from San Jose to reach the magical and rustic lodge. This small charming lodge is nestled on the top of the green Central Valley highlands of the country. Surrounded by lush gardens, Trogon Lodge offers 10 rustic and very comfortable cabins. Each cabin is featured with heating, private baths and a view of the Savegre River or the dazzling forest. For its guests comfort, all feature a heating unit specially necessary on the area’s chilly nights. You can get relaxed at the balcony from the main restaurant or at the gazebo, and also can sit in the middle of the wonderful garden enjoying the flora of the area, including ferns, several species of orchids, centennial oak trees, bromeliads and the opportunity of getting close to nature in this virgin area. In the ‘El Quetzal’ restaurant you will enjoy yummy homemade meals which are prepared in family style. In front of the restaurant there is a trout pond from where you can catch fish and can ask the chef to prepare a delicious dish.
Activities:
While staying at this lodge you can go for enjoying a variety of daily tours available by paying additional fee. At the time of 6:00 to 8:00 am you can go for a walk in search for birds, specially Resplendent Quetzals and can take help from the resident guide. If you are lucky enough you will get opportunity to spot some beautiful bird. You can also select one of the 3 different nature trails that all are different in length and difficulty. Trail #1 and #2 head east, being #1 the longest. Trail #2 heads west and finishes in the San Gerardo de Dota road. The entrance is located at 2 km from the Lodge and from here, the fun begins. If you go for walking through the Forest, you will reach the impressive waterfall. If you want to explore the beauty of the area, it will be better to go for a ride along the beautiful Valley of San Gerardo de Dota.
